This peer learning forum will highlight the importance of effective sponsorship programmes and discuss the myth ofmeritocracy。

Sponsoring means advocating for an employee and using connections to try and secure them opportunities. By contrast, mentors provide advice and feedback but may not get directly involved in an individual’s career. BITC’s research also shows that 43% of employees from black, Asian and ethnic minority say they would like a fast track opportunity but only 10% have this. Effective sponsorship programmes are one way to achieve this.

During this webinar there will be an emphasis on peer discussion, exploring common challenges and solutions around sponsorship programmes.
