Matt Robson

Head of Discipline, Aquatic Ecology,
Jacobs

South East Leadership Board

Matt Robson works for Jacobs UK Ltd, a global multidisciplinary technical professional services firm.

Matt is the Head of Discipline for the Aquatic Ecology group, and has been working in the environment sector for over 18 years, both in public and private organisations.

Matt is a marine ecologist by training, and started his career with the Environment Agency, where he worked as an ecologist before moving into general environmental management. Matt then worked for Dar Al-Handasah, a design and engineering firm, where he worked extensively in the Middle East and West Africa on large infrastructure projects. Following the arrival of his first child, Matt then moved back to a UK role with Jacobs, where he has been for the past eight years.

In his role for Jacobs, Matt wears two hats: a technical advisory role where he manages the aquatic ecology and water quality input on large infrastructure projects across the UK, Middle East, and West Africa, and a business developmental role for the Environmental Services and Consenting Divisions. As Head of Discipline for the Jacobs Aquatic Ecology group he has direct responsibility for managing and mentoring a team of specialist freshwater and marine technical staff. He is also part of the Jacobs Ecology Management Team, which provides leadership to more than 200 ecologists across the business.

Matt jumped at the opportunity to join the Business in the Community (BITC) South East Leadership Board; his belief that collectively we can do more good in society aligning with BITC’s ethos and objectives. Throughout his career, Matt has strived to help business minimise its impact on the environment and natural resources, and he hopes that through BITC he can extend this influence. Matt joined the board shortly before COVID-19 took hold, but is keen to engage and leverage help wherever he can.

Matt spends a most of his spare time with family and friends, either fishing or travelling around the country in his aging camper van.
