Paula Swain

Partner and National Head of Commercial Recoveries,
Shoosmiths LLP

South East Leadership Board

Paula Swain has worked as a lawyer in the south of England for over 20 years, having committed to the region after her student years at the University of Southampton. Passionate about developing and supporting people, and nurturing teams, Paula now leads a large litigation team for Shoosmiths LLP, a national law firm with 13 locations, and heads up their office in Hampshire.

She was drawn to support Business in the Community (BITC) because she believes in giving back, and because BITC’s core campaign areas align with Shoosmiths’ own goals and values. Joining the BITC leadership team gives Paula the opportunity to lead both in her office, and in her community.

Paula started her journey of contribution outside her day job when she was elected as a Director of the Solent Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP). The LEP supports the Solent economy through a strong focus on the growth of skills and through its efforts to support clean and sustainable growth. She is excited to share her experience and skills in collaboration with her BITC colleagues, and her community. You can expect to see Paula enthusiastically advocating regularly about her new role, particularly around supporting social mobility and preserving our environment.
