Business in the Community (BITC) Cymru leads a growing movement and work with more than 200 companies in Wales from small- and medium-sized businesses to leading brands. We offer tailored advice and support to help companies to improve their responsible business practices, to align them with local social issues where they can really make a difference, along with the Welsh policy agenda. We also offer a variety of ways for companies to come together to collaborate on key social issues as well as learn from each other.

What we do

Age

The workforce in the UK is changing fast and you need to act now to unlock the opportunities of multigeneration teams. By 2020 1 in 3 workers will be over 50¹, and by 2030 half of all adults in the UK will be over 50².  Understanding the challenges and opportunities of an ageing population is vital if we all want to create productive, innovative and inclusive multi-generational teams as we all lead longer working lives.

Business in the Community (BITC) Cymru wants to encourage and support businesses to build age-friendly workplaces where older employees can thrive. We have formed a partnership with Age Cymru to support employers through theAge at Work programme, funded by the National Lottery Community Fund.

Under the key strands of retention, retraining and recruitment, Age at Work will work with employers to develop a more age-inclusive workplace and understand the benefits of an intergenerational workforce. It will also support older workers (aged 50 plus) who want to remain in work. It highlights the need to begin preparation for work in later life and retirement at an earlier stage. Business class

Business Classis a tried and tested programme developed by Business in the Community (BITC). It creates effective and mutually beneficial school-businesses partnerships. Partnerships are based firmly on the needs of schools and the priorities of businesses and transform the life chances of young people and develop talented employees for the future.
