Richard Fearon joinedLeeds Building Societyin 2016 as Chief Commercial Officer and was appointed Deputy Chief Executive Officer in August 2018.
After starting his career at management consultants Oliver Wyman & Company, he spent ten years at Lloyds Banking Group in senior roles in the mortgages and savings businesses. He then joined Leeds Building Society. Richard is responsible for the society’s strategy and direction across customer and digital, product development, direct and intermediary distribution as well as change management.
Richard has extensive knowledge and expertise in these areas, and is passionate about putting customers at the heart of decision making. He has built on the responsible ethos of Leeds Building Society and led the development of a three-year strategy, which set ambitious external targets based on doing what is right for the Society’s members, colleagues and communities.
The society has been recognised as a leader in diversity, achieved the Carbon Trust Standard for carbon and became the first national high-street financial institution to achieve the Fair Tax Mark. Richard is a mortgage product and services board member at UK Finance, the collective voice for the banking and finance industry, and has mentored through the Women Ahead scheme.
