Tim McNamara is a Partner in the Banking and Finance team of leading national law firm Shoosmiths LLP. Based in Manchester and working across the Pennines, Tim advises a wide range of clients on all matters of debt finance including acting for institutional and alternative lenders, real estate developers and investors and local authorities. Originally from Liverpool, Tim trained and qualified with City law firm Herbert Smith LLP in London before moving back to the north to join Addleshaw Goddard LLP in 2005. Tim then moved to operate “client side” when he joined The Royal Bank of Scotland plc to lead their transaction execution team across the north of England. Having earned a wealth of commercial experience with a market-leading lender, Tim returned to private practice in 2017 joining Shoosmiths LLP as a partner.

Since 2018 Tim has also chaired the corporate social responsibility (CSR) Committee of the Shoosmiths Manchester office, supporting volunteering fundraising, volunteering and awareness initiatives for various charities operating in the region. As part of this role Tim has also been involved in the development and launch of Shoosmiths’ Social Mobility Action Plan.

Tim joined the North West Leadership Board in October 2020 and brings his energy and experience to further the aims of Business in the Community (BITC) especially in relation to social mobility in disadvantaged areas and the environment.

Tim is married to Kate and has two sons Lewis and Henry. A keen golfer and an avid sports fan, Tim also coaches the under eight mini-rugby team at Sale FC rugby club in south Manchester.
